'undue patronage to one's relatives'

Catalyst Arts has given the opportunity to the relatives of artists to show off their own creative talents. The response has been overwhelming. Parents, children, siblings, extended relations and friends have contributed a wide variety of works to give a unique insight to the artistic background of some of our most prolific artists.

The show is an exploration and celebration of the ties of family and friends.

This project has provided a chance for artists’ relatives to experience at first hand the excitement and challenges of placing their work on public display in the professional environment of a gallery. It was also a chance for a section of the Belfast contemporary art scene to embrace the whole spectrum of inherited talent that lies behind its ingenuity.
