Necrospective

9 - 31 August 2012

Necrospective brings together artist, writers and theorists, whom all share a common interest in our modern, anthropogenic environment and the socio-political consequences of our interaction with a progressively technological and mediated world.

Necrospective is an attempt to look at human behaviour from a technological point of view. In this state of mind there is no subjectivity, no personal history or cultural background, a purely functional way of being. This is the way we regard technology at large, as inanimate, purely functional. Regarding technology in this way negates the questions “who am I?” “why am I here?” and “to whom or to what do I owe the pleasure of your company?” It presupposed that humans created the Universe, rendering us as we render nature, purely functional, with no purpose or intention, ripe for domination through technology.
