Martin

Martin is a group exhibition, with artists from the UK, Japan, Germany, Austria and the USA. The exhibition consists of negative installations, photo-documentation of UFO's, constructed hybrid creatures, crop circles, sound and video works and surrogate events.... shadowing issues contained in George R Romero's 1977 film Martin.

Martin mirrors the methodological procedures and range of concerns pursued by a number of recent cultural practices, which at the same time recognise the restriction of the orthodox art event. The project proceeds from an acknowledgement of the inadequacies of this orthodoxy, while also aware of the collapse of the option of alternative or independent posi-tions. This is en route to examining available margins, gaps and positions in which to operate in the remnants of the existing 19th Century model of the exhibition event. Martin happens at:
